Market players report renewed fall in soft and hardwood pulp prices in August

Some market insiders talking to EUWID believed NBSK prices had bottomed out now. Others thought further cuts might be possible in September. However, market players think that any potential reductions will be smaller than in earlier months. "We are approaching bottom," a softwood pulp buyer remarked. Another buyer believed that demand would first have to increase in orderto trigger a change in trend as extended maintenance breaks of individual pulp mills were by far not enough. "I expect that manufacturers with high production costs will be the first to withdraw additional volumes from the market,"the buyer said.
