ISRI: Indonesian rules on recovered paper imports still subject to discussion

The quality requirements that will apply to recovered paper (RCP) imports to Indonesia are still not set in stone. This became clear after a visit of officials from the US Institute of Scrap Recycling (ISRI) at the beginning of July. Indonesian authorities were already discussing the introduction of stricter quality requirements for the import of RCP imports to Indonesia in the first quarter of the year. Initially the Indonesian government had aimed to introduce the same standards as China, which imposed a contamination rate of not more than 0.5 per cent. However, these plans were postponed.
