Winbon Technocell commissions second machine

As of 1 January China-based joint venture Winbon Schoeller New Materials (WSNM) purchased a majority stake in decor paper producer Zhejiang Grandrich Paper. Winbon Schoeller was founded in the first quarter of 2017 by German specialty paper producer Felix Schoeller Holding and the Chinese company Zhejiang Welbon Pulp & Paper Group. Zhejiang Grandrich had previously ceased all production activities in connection with insolvency proceedings. The largest of its three paper machines resumed operations in May 2018 after Winbon Schoeller came on board. The 8 ft-wide paper machine, which has a designed annual capacity of 25,000 t, made approximately 8,000t of decor paper by the year's end. Most of this decor paper was sold in China. The first exports to South-East Asia were also wrapped up. One of two 4 ft-wide paper machines is to start operating be- fore the end of February.The third machine is supposed to resume operations at the end of 2019. The three paper machines have a listed combined capacity of around 50,000 tpy. Winbon Schoeller intends to make a decision about whether to invest in a new decor paper machine as soon as it reaches this capacity level.
