Germany's Schumacher Packaging, the family run producer of corrugated and paperboard packaging solutions, reports double digit sales growth in 2017. Sales increased year-on-year by 12% to €591 m. "We increased sales in 2017 in all countries where we are active", reports Bjorn Schumacher, managing director of the group. However, a look at the revenue situation is sobering. The group noted that corrugated base paper costs had increased by around 30% last year and cost increases could not be passed on. "This is why packaging prices must rise in the short term - realistically by 15% and more. Anything else would jeopardise the survival of packaging producers", Mr Schumacher said.
