Poland: Nerves frayed in newsprint business after blaze shuts down Kwidzyn PM

A sudden, lengthy paper machine stoppage can easily make waves in a country like Poland that has just a few local production machines for some paper grades - even more so in a market that is already strained. Newsprint buyers had frazzled nerves after a fire damaged two paper machines run by International Paper in Kwidzyn in northern Poland towards the middle of March. In a separate development, the site later also suffered damage to a recovery boiler, which is curbing fine paper output.
