Australia launches antidumping probe into copy paper imports from Austria, Finland, Russia and Slovakia

The Australian government is investigating imports of copy paper from Finland, Austria, Russia, Slovakia and South Korea with regard to possible illegal trading and sales practices. The antidumping procedure was opened at the request of Melbourne-based paper manufacturer Australian Paper. The Australian subsidiary of Japan's Nippon Paper Industries (NPI) alleges that paper suppliers from those five countries are exporting copy paper to Australia "at prices less than their normal value" and that the dumping has caused material injury to the Australian industry. The investigation into alleged dumping was initiated in mid-March. The interested parties have time until 25 April of this year to make submissions to the investigation.
