Clearwater Paper sells recycled tissue mill to Dunn Paper

Last month, US tissue and board producer and converter Clearwater Paper announced the sale of its Ladysmith, Wisconsin, recycled tissue facility to Dunn paper. Clearwater puts the price tag at roughly $72m. The company said it intended to use the sale proceeds to fund the expansion project at Shelby, North Carolina and reduce debts. The Ladysmith facility has capacity to produce slightly over 50,000 metr.t (or 56,000 sh.t.) per year of recycled tissue paper. Clearwater Paper explained the divestment of the Ladysmith mill with a strategic decision which left no space for recycled tissue in the company's portfolio. "In our Consumer Products business, our strategy is focused on network optimization to match the growing demand for the ultra-quality segments of the tissue category. As a result, we elected to sell our Ladysmith facility, which manufactures recycled paper and does not align with that strategy," said Linda K. Massman, president and chief executive officer.
