Stable prices for mixed paper and supermarket paper and board in Germany

More than enough supermarket paper and board was still available, but prices had not come under a great deal of pressure in August. Contracts were generally carried forward into August on the same basis as July. Sorted graphic paper for deinking remained sought-after. As a result, August prices rose by at least €5/t compared to July. Spot lots in eastern Germany in particular had reportedly attracted even substantially larger mark-ups. These price increases were apparently intended to keep material within Germany, especially as Chinese buyers were also looking to buy this grade, one observer remarked.
