Gender differences in scientific knowledge and attitudes toward science: a reply to a reply

In a recent critique of our article-"Gender differences in scientific knowledge and attitudes toward science: a comparative study of four Anglo-American nations"-Sturgis and Alllum provide two main and interrelated criticism of our work: (1) the lack of a theoretical justification for the causal ordering of variables in the statistical analysis; and (2) a mis- interpretation of our results. And while we appreciate the interest expressed by the authors in our work, we plead not guilty to both charges. Focusing initially on the first criticism of Sturgis and Allum, or their expressed reservations Concerning the causal ordering of variables, the arguments in support of our position are Threefold.
