Sequential Moonrise

Photographing a sequential moonrise is relatively easy. It merely requires planning, a full moon, the luck of a clear, calm evening and a lot of patience. Planning is multi-faceted. First you have to find an appropriate shooting position, preferably one that is elevated, such as a hill, with an interesting foreground, such as a portion of a city. Then you must determine where the moon will rise and when. The "when" is easy since newspapers and moon tables provide this information. Here a new or full moon is desirable for maximum effectiveness.
