One of the key activities of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) is its international exhibitions program. In any one year, there are literally hundreds of exhibitions held throughout the world that received recognition by PSA. For an exhibition to receive the recognition, it must conform with certain standards which are known as Consolidated Exhibition Standards (CES). The CES document was established so that there is common criteria for entry forms, dates, judging, catalogues, return of entries, etc. In addition, the document contains standards to the PSA Divisions. The Exhibition Standards Committee and Exhibition Standards Directors are responsible for granting recognition of exhibitions that apply to PSA. These volunteers are also responsible to ensure that the Standards reflect the needs of exhibitions and those who enter exhibitions.
