Many regions of the country have camera club councils that encompass several states. The New England Camera Club Council (NECCC) is an umbrella group for about 80 camera clubs covering Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.rnThe Council sponsors a variety of events and services including an annual three-day photography conference in July at the University of Massachusettsrnin Amherst, which is one of the largest conferences in the U.S. Over 1200 photographers from New England and beyond attend each year.rnThe 64th annual conference will be held July 10-12, 2009. The very reasonable $145 registration fee includes 35 different seminars (most repeated two or three times over the weekend) with speakers ranging from local presenters to nationally recognized professionals including some from Canon's® "Explorer of Light" and Nikon's® "Legend Behind the Lens" series. Also included are opportunities to practice photographic skills with model photography and photo hi-jinx. Canon and Nikon will again be offering loaner equipment so attendees may try that lens or camera that they have their eye on. Purchases of equipment and supplies can be made in the vendor area.
