There are two kinds of divisions in the Photographic Society of America (PSA). Some are based on the subject matter: Nature, Photo Travel, and Photojournalism). Others are based on the photographic format: Color Projected Image, Electronic Image, Pictorial Print and Stereo. Over the years PSA has added divisions as the need arose. In the 1990's there were separate divisions for photographers who took slides, made prints, and used stereo cameras. The world of film and darkroom photography was still dominant. The existing divisions did not address digital photography.
