Grayling to reopen rail lines in bid to 'unlock housing growth'

The government has revealed plans to restore train links lost in the 1960s and 1970s in a bid to kickstart the development of thousands of new homes. Under plans drawn up by transport secretary Chris Grayling (pictured), train routes closed during the cuts that followed a report in the 1960s by Dr Richard Beeching, then chairman of the British Transport Commission, could be restored.
