Ludgate has uncovered an amusing deception perpetrated by Mark Norris, managing director of Merrick Real Estate. Norris, who captained the Dorking Derelicts rugby squad against Fowey on 17 May, had to travel five hours with his team from Dorking to Cornwall. To avoid the problems that usually go with booking travel for a rugby team, he reserved the train tickets under the name "Daphne du Maurier Memorial Tour", as the game coincided with the Du Maurier Festival Society's Fowey Festival of Words and Music. The team even furnished themselves with du Maurier's Jamaica Inn for the journey to appear legitimate.
