I gave a conference paper on skills in propertyasset management last week at AssetManagement 2010 in London, and it enthusedme to write about a subject dear to my heart:ensuring every organisation has a "client side"capability to establish how to use propertymore effectively.It is all the more important in a period when manypublic sector bodies are considering "externalising"property services and, in some cases,property ownership, to a third partyin the search for efficiencies andsavings.lsay "externalising",because in many cases in thefuture, the third party may beanother public sector body or vehicle.It has been brought about bythe government's need to reduceborrowing and gradually bring publicsector debt under control.
