Fife mega-shed on Amazon wish list

Internet retailer Amazon is to prelease a lm sq ft mega-shed in Dunfermline, Fife.Birmingham-based Graftongate is lined up as developer and talks are under way to secure funding.The shed will be built on a site in Calais Muir owned by economic development agency Scottish Enterprise. The deal would be the largest industrial property transaction ever to take place in Scotland.Details of the package, such as rent and lease length, are still to be confirmed, but several institutions have been approached about a possible forward-funding package. HSBC Special Investments is believed to be f rontrunner to buy the property.The deal will go some way to tackling Amazon's lack of distribution facilities. Until recently the retailer operated fourdistribution centres across the UK. It recently signed short-term leases on two additional warehouses in England, a 415,000 sq ft Standard Life building at First Point in Doncaster, and a 545,000 sq ft Prologis warehouse in Peterborough.
