摘要

Best known to the public as the man behind Centre Point in London's West End, Harry Hyams will be remembered in the industry as one of the great developers of the post-war era. Hyams, who died just before Christmas, started out as an estate agent at DE &J Levy, Hamptons and Dudley Samuel Harrison before becoming a developer of London offices and building one of the biggest fortunes in property during the 1960s and 1970s. His company, Oldham Estates, was eventually sold for £600m in 1987. Paul Krendel, a partner at Levy Real Estate, remembered him as one of the firm's "most courteous and loyal clients" as well as one of the most skilled. "He had a fantastic feel for a site and a prospective property development," he said.
