Given all the uncertainty swirling around the property market as a whole, last year was a remarkably good one for auctions. The two largest commercial houses, Allsop Commercial and Acuitus, ended the year by beating their all-time sales totals. The year also saw various new operations launched, including SDL Group's acquisition of Midlands auction houses Graham Penny Auctions and CP Bigwood to form the largest auction business outside London.
