Private equity firm Carlyle has sold Tanfield, its flagship Edinburgh office, to Rockspring for around £54m in an off-market deal. The 191,000 sq ft office building was built as an administrative centre for Standard Life and when it opened in 1991 it boasted the largest floorplates of any office in Europe. Carlyle had been looking to sell the building for some time, but is not thought to have appointed agents. It is understood to have been quoting £52m for the deal. which reflected a yield of around 7%.
