TAPPING THE TTX NETWORK

When TTX company's woner-railroads were looking for a technological edge to more efficiently manage autoracks in the mid-1990s, they turned to TTX. Combining sophisticated optimization software with a wealth of industry experience, TTX created the Reload Group. In just seven years, the group improved autorack fleet utilization by 25 percent. That same technological innovation and efficiency is being brought to the table again as TTX prepares to take on two major projects for the railroads: overseeing a box-car pooling program and managing an intermodal chassis program. "A strength of TTX is the ability to derive efficiencies from the pooling of assets," says Thomas Wells, senior vice president―fleet management for TTX. "As domestic containers and fleets have grown, the need for the management of these assets has grown."
