'Quality' becomes a duty you can't ignore

Quality does not cost; it pays. That was the underlying message of last Ocober's Railroad Industry Quality Conference. Never mind that the 350-plus attendees were predominantly quality specialists with railway supply companies, not railroads. This was the seventh year in a row for this exercise in quality, which continues to be jointly sponsored (a rare collaboration these days) by the Railway Progress Institute, the Association of American Railroads and the National Association of Purchasing Management's special Rail Industry Forum.
