PM 2008 World Congress - a European view of global trends

As set out in Joe Capus’s report in thisnissue (see pp. 202–207), the World PMnCongress in Washington was a strangencombination of a nominally depressednmarket (the USA has seen severalnsuccessive years of falling iron powdernconsumption) with a remarkably wellnattended and well supportednconference. The exhibition was one ofnthe largest I have seen, and it saw a lotnof traffic. Overseas attendance wasnlarge, and, as Joe reports, the industrynin Europe, and especially in the FarnEast, is doing much better than in thenUSA, although we are all conscious ofnthe potential adverse impact on thenglobal economy of the current ‘creditncrunch’ induced problems which arenaffecting banks world-wide.
