The World Health Organization advocates that palliativencare should be integrated in healthcare policiesnand programs.1 Yet the vast majority of the world’snpopulation does not have access to palliative care.2nStudies also suggest that most people with advancednillnesses prefer to be cared for at home or near theirnhome but most people die in institutions or, if atnhome, without the appropriate care.3 These, plusnseveral limitations, call for the identification of prioritiesnin the delivery of primary palliative care, so thatnthe healthcare providers are able to meet the mostnpressing needs of patients with advanced life-limitingnconditions, and those of their families.
