The pesticide chemistry plays an important role in the agricultural modernization as well as in the control of human contagious diseases, as has been proved by the practice of many countries. The study on new pesticides involves many branches of learnings which make their R and D as complicated and formidable as the pharmaceutical research. Only recently has China launched her novel pesticides research program. How to collect as much as possible the related biological information to "catch" the leadcompound, carry on structural optimization, establish new screening models and investigate the structure-activity relation is an urgent task confronting us. As the search of novel pesticides is closely related with life science, some projects in the world, such as comprehensive bio-screening of a novel compound, the relation of plant growth relator (PGR) to a certain cancer-curbing phenomenon, the correlating of resistance mechanism of pests with mutagenic enzymes, all illustrate the close link and mutual permeation of different disciplines, such as chemistry, biology, bio-chemistry medicinal and environmental sciences in this domain.
