Scaling up Multiple Use Water Services: Accountability in the Water Sector provides an overview of the relatively unexplored synergies between global public services reform through local and community-driven development (LCDD)and Multiple Water Use Services (MUS) in the water sector. MUS is a public services approach that takes people's multiple water needs as the starting point for water services planning and is considered by authors, Barbara van Koppen, Stef Smits, Cristina del Rio and John B. Thomas, to hold the potential to place citizens at the centre stage of their own development, whilst also strengthening accountability in service provision, ultimately achieving gender-equitable poverty alleviation and human development.
