Blount Boats Inc. of Warren, R.I., has launched a dual-purpose 130-foot, high-speed catamaran, AtlantiCat. During the summer, the boat will offer whale-watching excursions from Bar Harbor, Maine. In winter, the vessel will serve as a commuter ferry in Florida. AtlantiCat was delivered to BBO LLC (operating as Acadian Whale Adventures) of Portsmouth, N.H., on July 21. The company claims that AtlantiCat is the largest, fastest and most advanced whale-watching catamaran in the world today. The 442-passenger, three-deck, all-aluminum vessel has been designed with almost 1,000 feet of rail space, including a multilevel bow specially designed for unobstructed observation.
