Servo spot welders slash energy costs

A two-thirds saving in energy costs has driven Jaguar Cars to use servo-controlled spot welding guns for the XF luxury sports saloon that will be available to customers from next March. The XF is a replacement for the S Type. Jaguar engineers have had a servo-controlled spot welding gun on trial for over five years at the Castle Bromwich plant where the XF will be built. Start of production of XF is set for 26 November.
