Swiss and Belgians adopt 'try before you buy' strategy

Other countries have gone about popularising electric vehicles in a different way from the UK. Instead of providing grants for purchase of a vehicle and a network of publicly available charging points, a scheme in Switzerland sees electric vehicles provided at 18 major train stations. People can hire them for a day with a pay-as-you-go smart card.
