Principle concerns

Of the many engineering organisations scattered across the UK, Architects and Engineers for Social Responsibility (AESR) is surely one of the most obscure. With a membership of about 300, it is no imminent danger of rivalling the clout of the IMechE or any other of the big institutions. But size isn't everything. What it lacks because of its diminutive stature, AESR tries to make up for with its commendable intentions. In an age where businesses too often put the bottom line before their wider social obligations, AESR exists to promote the responsible use of technology in ways that benefit mankind and do not harm the environment. It also seeks to eliminate the sale of arms to repressive regimes.
