Living amongst the gravel pits north of Oxford I have seen the environmental challenges in sand and gravel extraction for building materials ("Sands of time," Professional Engineering No 7, 2019). By chance I read the "Sands of time" article just after reading an article in the November edition of The Manufacturer magazine. "New CO2 capture technology" describes how Cambridge Carbon Capture are developing a process that creates building material while sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
