The Impact of China's Anticrisis Program on the Countries of Central Asia

The author describes China s anticrisis program and argues that it coincides with a shift in developmental strategy. However, he does not expect radical change in China's relations with Central Asia.rn1. The most important new geopolitical condition is the world economic crisis. It began to have a direct impact on the economies of Russia, Kazakhstan, and China only at the end of 2008. In China the leadership immediately started to adopt various anticrisis measures. Best known are the ten-point program and the decision of the government to increase capital investments for overcoming crisis phenomena by 4 trillion yuan ($584 billion). Five or six months after the first blows of the crisis against our countries, it is still early to talk about the impact of the Chinese anticrisis program. It is important, however, to understand the essence of the program and the actions of the Chinese government, which are shaped by a new strategy and a new policy.
