The successful functioning of the oil industry requires an efficient service sector capable of providing a wide range of services, from geological exploration to equipment production. In Russia, this sector is just being established, and a search is under way for a structure that will be efficient in terms of the relationship of the place and role of various types of companies. Today it is necessary to increase the government's role as a regulator of processes taking place in the formation and development of oilfield service in Russia.
