Colin Redwood G6MXL reports for Newsdesk, "On June 15th, the UK Regulator Ofcom announced that a block of frequencies in the 2m band ranging from 144.0125 to 144.1375MHz, excluding the 144.0500MHz (the c.w. calling frequency) and 144.1000MHz (Perseids Meteor Scatter c.w. Calling), will also be authorised for Olympic Games purposes in the London area only using handheld transceivers running no more than 5W. The period of this authorisation is from July 27th to August 28th 2012 only.
