Welcome to In The Shop (ITS) where I remember my time running a busy TV, Hi-Fi and Amateur Radio shop in the north west England. This time I thought you might like to know of a few ways in which you can help those still in the trade, who are trying to earn an honest crust. With very little effort you can soon run up a large repair bill, or even better 'write off' equipment so that you have to buy new. Someone has to keep the tills ringing. Customers personal health matters weren't my responsibility, but I did occasionally drop a few hints about the 'health' of their equipment. A "No Smoking - People Are Breathing" notice went up in the shop, long before the matter became law. Financially however, I did rather well out of smokers as the damage caused by smoking was slow acting. Smoke always seemed to delay its effect on equipment, until after the guarantee ran out!
