The Noble Radio NR-4SC 4 Metre SSB/CW Transceiver

For as long as I can remember, equipment for SSB/CW operation on the 4m band has been the preserve of transverters and HF transceivers, with a number of commercial and homebrew transverters being prominent (the PW Meon was very popular in the 1980s). More recently, some commercial multiband equipment has featured 70MHz, most notably the Yaesu FT-847 and then, in the last year, the Icom IC-7100. A dedicated SSB/CW rig for 4m has long been talked about and hoped for by enthusiasts of this fascinating VHF band but until recently that was all it was - talk. However, late last year, news came from a new name in amateur radio, Noble Radio, of a dedicated SSB/CW rig for 70MHz. I was delighted to be offered an early chance to have a look at it.
