Why VHF/UHF?

Recently, my stepson Lawrence was 'compelled' for transport reasons to come to a talk that I was giving at the Reading and District Amateur Radio Club about 'Simple Satellite Operating'. It was, as far as I was concerned, an enjoyable evening and it seemed to go well. Lawrence, at 18, is a bright lad, but is not interested in amateur radio in anything more than a fairly superficial sense. That's fine, of course! But I was intrigued to see what he made of the talk.
