The staffs of Gidrospetsproekt and Gidrospetsstroi are regular readers of this journal and frequently publish in it, where they contribute to the discussion of their developments, problems, and results, such as measures against infiltration or for reinforcement at the base of any structure, or the upgrading of concrete dams and underground structures, underground mining and strip mining, and so on. The papers in the journal provide not only information on the construction of these installations but also substantially assist resolving problems for particular installations under design or construction or already in use, and they serve to improve the scientific education of the engineers. We greet the journal on its 70th anniversary and hope that it will continue to be an authority on scientific achievements and engineering aspects of hydrotechnical and power-plant construction.
