DETERMINATION OF THE TECHNICAL STATE, REPAIRS, AND QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF WATERPOWER EQUIPMENT AT HYDROELECTRIC PLANTS IN THE UZBEKISTAN REPUBLIC

More than 70 hydroelectric units are in operation in the Uzbekistan Republic, generating a total power output of more than 1400 MW (13% of the total power of the republic's power system), with individual power outputs ranging from 1 MW to 155 MW. The units were constructed from 1926 to 1981 by companies from Russia, Germany, Canada, the United States, and England; 80% of the hydrounits have been in operation for more than fifty years and show considerable wear. In light of the economic difficulties of the republic it is essential to institute an efficient, judiciously planned program of maintenance and repair of the power equipment. The Tashkent State Trust for the Organization and Efficiency of Electric Power Plants (ORGRES-Tashkent) began to work on the hydroelectric power plants of Uzbekistan, effectively in 1991 (apart from the three plants of the Middle Chirchik River power grid, for which work projects were initiated at the time of their installation in 1970).
