The issue of low-level radiation health effects, after laying dormant for several years, has surfaced again. This is not good news. The controversy over low-level radiation health effects typically focuses on esoteric studies which claim that many innocent people are being harmed by the insidious radiation from nuclear power plants. Anti-nukes cite frightening study results as true, however flawed those studies may be, and any countervailing arguments seem to be technical weasel words the offending parties use to explain away the results. Fortunately, the major news media have not picked up the latest claims, as they commonly did in the 1970s, so the most-recent accusations haven't yet had much public impact.
