Fuel Cell/Microturbine Hybrid Rolled Out

FuelCell Energy, Inc. has begun operation of a 250 kW Direct FuelCell integrated with a Capstone modified model 330 MicroTurbine. The combined system does not require any combustion in the turbine. DOE's Office of Fossil Energy as part of DOE's Vision 21 Program is funding the first-of-a-kind test of the high-efficiency DFC/T power plant.
