Calpine Tiverton Power Associates L.P. operates a 265 MW natural gas-fired, combined-cycle generating station in Tiverton, Rhode Island. The plant, which entered commercial operation on October 1, 2000, features a 172 MW General Electric 7FA7241 combustion turbine, a Nooter/Eriksen three-pressure heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for NO_x control, a 93 MW GE A-10 condensing steam turbine, and an air-cooled steam turbine condenser. Tiverton has had an average baseload heat rate since startup of 6960 Btu/kWh, an availability factor of 94.18 percent, scheduled outage factor of 4.52 percent, and forced outage factor of 1.27 percent. Because of frequent AGC (automatic generation control) operation, the capacity factor has averaged 73.87 percent. Permitted emission levels are 3.5 ppm for NO_x, 12 ppm for CO, and 10 ppm for ammonia slip, although the plant typically operates well below those limits.
