James Rogers, CEO of Duke Energy, told a global warming conference in February that his company's 800 MW Cliffside coal plant expansion will be the last coal-fired unit his company will build in the Carolinas. That's because the region's geology will not support sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO_2), unlike the geology of Indiana where Duke is building a 630 MW integrated gasification combined cycle (ICGG ) plant to capture and sequester CO_2.
