Carbon Capture R&D Gets $8 Billion Boost

Support for carbon capture and storage (CCS) research and development activity is increasing. According to Emerging Energy Research, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act-the stimulus bill-will increase federal support for demonstration and deployment of CCS projects by 70 percent to more than $8 billion.rnFurther boosting the industry's prospects, several states have introduced or passed CCS legislation in the past few months. And the U.S. and Canada have pledged to increase cooperation on research and demonstrations of CCS at coal-fired plants.
