Alstom's $300 million U.S. Turbine Manufacturing Facility

In 2007 Alstom announced their plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, Tenn. to produce turbines for fossil fuel and nuclear power plants. After almost three years, the 350,000 square foot facility opened its doors on June 24th to begin manufacturing steam turbines, gas turbines, generators and related equipment for use in North American power generation facilities. The facility will also retrofit existing turbines with new technology. But before construction on the expansion of the existing site could begin, the French-based company had to re-configure their campus to erect the facility.
