摘要

Habitational experience in an energy-efficient house confirms the potential for large-scale energy savings and supply load-factor improvement with a saving in overall building costs. This is achievable with 'run-of-the-mill' existing technology by: minimising heat loss through the building fabric; prevention of heat loss through draughts and air leakage, recovering the maximum practicable level of heat from the outgoing warm air; and using low-tariff off peak electricity for all space and hot-water heating.
