The 2008 Materials Science & Technology (ms&t08) Conference & Exhibition

The Materials Science & Technology 2008 Conference & Exhibition took place in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from October 5-9. Pittsburgh is known colloquially as "The City of Bridges" and "The Steel City" for its many bridges and former steel manufacturing base. The characteristic shape of downtown is a triangular region carved by the confluence of the Monon-gahela River and the Allegheny River, which merge to form the Ohio River. The skyline of Pittsburgh features more than 150 high-rise buildings, 446 bridges, two inclined railways, and a prerevolutionary fortification. In 2007, Pittsburgh was named "America's Most Livable City" by Places Rated Almanac. Many conference attendees were fortunate to have hotel rooms with a spectacular view of the rivers and bridges. A number of the local restaurants also offer elegant gourmet cuisine and fresh fish that were flown in from around the world.
