Ⅻ Meeting of the Mexican Society of Crystallography

The Ⅻ Meeting of the Mexican Society of Crystallography (SMCr) took place in the nice city of Villahermosa, Tabasco, from Sunday 4 to Thursday 8 of May 2014 at the Centra Internacional de Vinculacion y Ensenanza (CIVE), of the Universidad Juarez Autonoma de Tabasco. In the opening ceremony on Sunday evening, the Rector and other University officials welcomed the participants to the meeting (Figure 1). After the ceremony, Dr. William (Bill) Duax of Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute of Buffalo, New York, delivered the opening plenary lecture entitled "Essential Function and Ancient Origin of Ribosomal Protein S9". Plenary lectures were also delivered by Sylvain Bernes of Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (Mexico), Simon Billinge of Columbia University and Brookhaven National Laboratory (USA), Emilio Moran of Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), Adela Rodriguez of Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (Mexico), Anthony R. West of the University of Sheffield (UK), and Miguel Delgado of Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela) (Figure 2).
