Famed oceanographer Robert Ballard brings his discovery of the Titanic and other historic treasures to your desktop. Clunk, clunk. It's 1986, and Robert Ballard's two-person submarine breaks the stillness 12,612 feet underwater. His sub alights on the deck of the sunken Titanic, in frigid, murky waters off the coast of Newfoundland. With a TV monitor and joystick, he directs a robot probe he designed, called Jason Jr., down the hole that once was the ship's grand staircase.
