Formation of Cu(I)-nitrile and Cu(II)-amine mixed valence complexes in the vinylamine-acrylonitrile copolymer system

In earlier work, we reported on the complex formation of a vinylamine-acrylonitrile copolymer and Cu(II) ions in an aqueous solution. The Cu(II) ion formed a complex with vinylamine units, taking the Cu(II)(N_4) planar structure. In addition, the Cu(I) ion formed a complex with acrylonitrile units. In this work, we observed the formation of a copolymer-Cu(II)-Cu(I)mixed valence complex.
